He was late for work. She missed her bus. We got stuck in traffic. Our taxi driver had a heart attack. For the first time in years I was so sick I could hardly walk, so I took the day off. My son had a high fever, and I took him to the doctor. What do all these people have in common? Their plans changed, and they missed the 911 tradegy on September 11, 2001. Thousands of people died that day, yet by odds too difficult to comprehend, there are those among the living who simply did not make it to work that day.
LUCK VERSES FATE? TRUST IN GOD - PROVERBS 3:5
Precognition through dreams or "knowing in advance," has happened to most of us at one time or another. Many would cite such experiences as a form of selective memory. If such is the case, God gives and provides in advance His course of action to prompt our recall. For we as Christians know full well that luck has nothing to do with our lives. God works everything out for the good of those who love Him. - Romans 8:28 This includes life and death. The here and now. The past and the future. What was, is, and will be.
YOU CALLED JUST IN TIME TO CATCH HIM ...
Though not a 911 survivor testimony, the story is told of Todd as he was just about to walk out the door for work and was delayed by a stranger's phone call. Todd's wife answered their ringing home phone and with confidence assured the caller, "Oh, he's just about to leave, you called just in time to catch him."
Taking pride in never being late for work, Todd reluctantly took the phone call. It was a gentleman "friend of a friend," who was trying to secure a job interview with the company Todd worked for due to a job opening. Todd had been with the same company for over twenty years, and this stranger wanted a recommendation. He had been calling leaving messages for well over three weeks, and Todd had simply not had the time to return his calls. Now, Todd felt he had no choice but to speak with him.
Irritated, but civil, Todd listened to this man give him a brief summary of his background and experience, felt he might be right for the job, and scheduled an appointment to meet him. After hanging up, Todd looked at his watch. It was 8:38 am, exactly 8 minutes latter than when he usually walked out the door and into his car on his way to work.
Another delay occurred when Todd was stuck in traffic. The traffic delay was due to a road construction crane on the Interstate freeway. The crane had collapsed into a large, rather deep, sunken pot hole. The accident involved three other cars, with one man rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Due to the accident, traffic was directed to an alternate route. Todd was late for work, but had missed the accident. That night he and his wife listened to the news and reported time of the bizarre crane accident. It occurred at exactly 8:48 am.
Todd turned to his wife in apparent shock admitting, "Had it not been for that inconvenient telephone call this morning, that could have been me. It is the exact time and place I am usually at as I drive on the Interstate freeway on my way to work." His wife replied in simple faith, "God has got our backs, to be sure."
We live in a fast paced world and often resent those sudden, sporadic interruptions within our lives. Meanwhile, God is always in control. And just like Todd and the 911 survivor testimony accounts, we come to realize God's mighty hand of providence is yielded in love, upon His children and His children's children.
WHEN YOU CAN'T TRACE GOD'S HAND, YOU CAN ALWAYS TRUST HIS HEART...
I say this in all honesty and faith in God - our heavenly Father, Jesus Christ. As my brother lost his life at a young age, in a horrific Industrial accident. He was literally "steamed alive." He died a happily married Christian father of three sons and a long awaited daughter, husband, brother and only son.
You can read about his death and personal Christian witness at our outreach website: WWW.SYNTHIAESTHER.COM , About Us - Subtab. We live in a fallen world. Bad things often happen to good people.
The fact that you are alive, is God's ordained plan. And no matter your present course in life, God is in control! His plan for your life is filled with hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). I have learned in deed, thought, and action, "When we can't trace God's hand, we can always trust His heart."
