But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed. - Isaiah 53:5

I recently underwent a third surgery on my right eye, June 11, 2009.   During the healing process I learned a very valuable lesson.  When my right eye was blind in sight, my left eye provided the strength of vision for my right eye.  For a while I didn't know I had loss of sight in that eye.  However, as time went by both of my eyes grew weaker, thus my trip to the Doctor learning of my vision problems. 

The same thing happens to us as Christians when we neglect God's word.  For a time everything will go on as usual.  However, when problems arise, without God's word hidden in our heart and mind we are too weak to fight our battles.  We are too faint to get on our knee's and fight like a woman!  In order to fight the good fight of faith we have to have the equipment to do so.  We need to be armed with the sword of faith in God's word - ready for battle.  For the word of God is living and active.  Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. - Hebrews 4:12

THE WOMAN WITH AN ISSUE OF BLOOD

In the Book of Mark, chapter 5:25-34. we read about a woman who had a serious health issue having bleed for 12 years.  She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse.  When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind Him in the crowd around Him and touched His cloak.  She had faith to know, "If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed."  Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.

At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from Him.  he turned around in the crowd and asked, "Who touched my clothes?"  You see the people crowding against you," his disciles answered, and yet you ask, "Who touched me?"  But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it.

Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at His feet and, trembling with fear, told Him the whole truth.  Jesus said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you.  Go in peace and be freed from your suffering."  And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. - Hebrews 11:6  Since my surgeries I thank God that 65 percent of the vision in my right eye has been restored.  Prayer and reading God's word helped me cope,  as I leaned on the everlasting arms of Jesus Christ and His word.
